Dinkytowner Cafe 412 14th Avenue SE Minneapolis, MN 55414 612-362-0427
Alternative Rock, Rock & Pop, World Music, Electronica
For years, Dinkytown has seemed to make a point of being a boho, tweedy No Fun Zone that disenfranchises the U of M students who live there, forcing them to spend their entertainment dollars elsewhere in the city. With the advent of the Dinkytowner, however, alt-rock, electronica, dance and world beat finally have a home at the U |

The Lounge 411 2nd Ave N Minneapolis, MN 55401 (612) 333-8800

DJ, Lounge, Specialty Cocktails, DJ - House, Bars, Clubs, Smoking Permitted
Where do celebrities and bigwigs (including Prince) go for a good time in Minneapolis? If they're halfway civilized and at least 21, the Lounge will be at the top of their list. With a cozy, couch-filled interior, including a private VIP room (available by special appointment), a flashy dance floor fed by a lineup of the Twin Cities' best club DJs, the Lounge appeals to the sophisticated night-lifer. Raised VIP seating encircles the dance floor |

The Quest 110 N Fifth St Minneapolis, MN 55403 612-338-3383
visit thier website for more information
Alternative Rock, Funk, Soul & R&B, Hip-Hop & Rap, Electronica
Its zany decor is nearly out of a movie, but this multilevel club's delicious music mix of old-school funk, cutting-edge electronica, alt-rock and R&B make for long lines on weekends after hours. When the club was known as Glam Slam, Prince's stone-engraved face decorated the pillars around the dance floor. Sadly, they've been removed. The drinks are strong and professionally (if not promptly) served. |

Tropix Beach Club 400 3RD Ave N Minneapolis, MN 55401-1706 (612) 333-1006
visit thier website for more information
DJ, 18 & Over, Singles, DJ - House, Clubs, Smoking Permitted
A trip to Tropix means a break from the standard Warehouse District club lineup. That means a packed, sweaty, loud, UV-lit madhouse of hot-mix dance-pop and writhing youthful flesh. The decor is nominally nautical, but it's hard to notice the surroundings past all the bodies and the tubs of bottled American beer packing the largest of the two dance floors. |
